BMW M5 El Camino Converts Correctly
>> 12 October 2008

In case you didn’t know, Australians are some of the biggest muscle car fanatics on the planet. They have one of the best GM marquees in the world, Holden, which makes some of the most top-notch muscle cars on the road. GM has brought over a couple Holden models and made them Pontiacs, the latest being the Commodore which became the G8 sport sedan and the Ute, which is basically a new age El Camino. It’s no surprise then that this BMW M5 turned El Camino has come from the land down under. The owner of this third generation M5 (E39) started the project in 2006 and worked on it for just under a year. Besides chopping the body and reinforcing it, he fully reworked the suspension and the engine so that the 4.9L M5 motor now puts out around 460hp. He also went over the interior, making sure the M5 Ute’s interior matched its crazy exterior. BMW fanboys may cry blasphemy, but we think it’s one of the coolest conversions we’ve seen this year.
